Well, I finally got the LP.net site in such a state that I’m ready to actually create some content. Now don’t get me wrong, we’re a long way from done with the tweaks and adjustments, but the site is no longer embarrassingly barren. We’ve got an about page now!
Let me introduce myself. I’m Stanford, and I’ll be your primary blogger for Legendary Pants. There will be others who write content every now and then, but most of the posts here will be from me. I’m pushing 30 with a wife and an 11-month-old baby boy. As far as the internet is concerned, I’ve been around for a while, going by the tags Orion_Prime and Spero42. For LP, I’ll just go by Stanford because I’m an adult now and my real name is good enough for me. Plus, I created the usernames for the site, so I get to be whatever I want. It was actually a toss up between Stanford and Mr. Huge-Awesome-O-Ma-Manbeast, but Stanford fit in the text field.
Legendary Pants was, in its nascent planning stages, supposed to be a video channel filled with commentary videos about games and gaming a la PewDiePie. Indeed, Kiokri invested in some nice video and sound recording equipment for it. Life, though, as it so often does, had a rather lot of interfering to do, so it never happened. However, during the planning, I decided that the video channel needed a site and blog to accompany it, and I volunteered to make that happen. I bought some hosting, nabbed a domain, and then proceeded to watch the whole idea fizzle out and die. Not wanting to watch precious money go completely to waste, I made a New Year’s resolution to work diligently on this blog.
Welcome to the result of that resolution!
Now, what exactly am I going to write? Well, it will be largely about gaming and gaming culture. I play games whenever I can get some time, and my college buddies and I get together once a week to play some EABA over Roll20. However, it won’t be just games. I do a bit of writing when I can, and I’m sure some cultural or political observations may sneak in from time to time, so there will be a bit of variety. Don’t worry, though, I’ll be sure to warn you when I post something that’s off-topic. I’m hoping to apply the categories quite rigorously, but we’ll see how it goes in the future.
I also plan to use the Legendary Pants site to host any personal projects that seem appropriate to the atmosphere (see utilities). Kiokri and I are always coming up with programming projects, though few of them make it past the “you know what would be awesome?” stage. However, for the ones that do, I’ll throw them up here. Some of the projects on my ethereal to-do list include an EABA character sheet written in JavaScript and a properly dynamic dice roller. Don’t hold your breath, though, they’re just vague notions as of right now.
Someday, we may kick off the videos section, but that’s going to be Kiokri’s job, so pester him on that one.
Ultimately, my goal here is to have a good time writing this blog, and I will continue to write it for as good times are had. I sincerely hope someone enjoys it, but I’m not going to lose any sleep if we never get any actual readers. Even getting the site up and writing this introductory post is a small victory for me, so I’ll take what I can get.
